ELECTRICITY

It is important to save electricity, as it is a form of energy which is maintained using fossil fuels. (Oil, natural gas and coal). Fossil fuels take millions of years to form as they are made up of fossils, or parts of dead animals and plants, therefore, they are known as non-renewable fuels, and must be preserved where they can. The burning of fossil fuels also creates more greenhouse gasses than the earth needs.

Ways you can save electricity in your house are:

- Turn off the lights when you leave a room.
- Make sure that appliances such as TVs and stereos are turned off at the wall rather than just left on standby.
- Ask your parents if your lightbulbs can be replaced with 'compact flourescent lights', using a fourth of the energy of a standard bulb.
