PAPER
There are two different types of paper which can be recycled. White paper (writing paper, envelopes and printer paper) and newspapers and magazines.
When the paper is collected from all the paper banks and roadside collection boxes you left it at it gets transported to a paper mill. Here the old paper is placed on conveyor belts and fed into the Fibre Preparation Plant where it goes into giant pulpers. Here chemicals and water are then mixed with the paper to wash off any ink or contaminants on the fibre. This is now known as pulp. This is then injected between two wire meshes to form damp paper sheets. After drying it is polished and rolled into large reels which can then be cut up into correct sizes. ![]() |
