Trees provide food and shelter for local wildlife, as well as producing oxygen for us to breathe and removing pollution from the air. They also help recycle water, prevent soil loss, produce shade and provide shelter from wind and rain. You could plant a tree in your back garden or many schools may have a nature or wildlife garden where you could plant one.

Before you plant your tree prepare it by soaking the roots for a couple of hours before digging a hole as deep as the roots and twice as wide. Make sure the tree stays upright whilst you fill in the hole with the soil. Water it well.
