TEXTILES
Anything you can wear, even shoes can be recycled in textile banks.
When clothes are deposited into the banks they are sorted and graded into three different categories...Reuse, manufacturing and reclamation. If the items are still in good condition they are sent to charity shops or poorer countries (Re-used). If items are ripped or no longer of a standard to be worn, they are cut up into squares and used for industrial wipers (Manufacturing). Reclamation is where some fibres, eg wool are pulled apart and dyed before being spun into new garments. ![]() |
